So I was in a car accident in the beginning of January, and I've been going to the Chiropractor three times a week since. According to my MRI, I have bulging disks and pinched nerves.

But I found Wednesday I get to go indoor skydiving for free.

I hear that's kind of a bad idea.

What do you guys think?

It's rather moronic to even have to ask..

I'm sure you're hoping for some monetary compensation for the pain you've suffered, and the IRREVERSIBLE damage caused, right? (I have a herniated disc, so I know the pain).

It's almost guaranteed that you will be videotaped and photographed while doing said indoor skydiving.

When court day comes, the video will be played to show the court that you're fine and not impaired in any way.

You lose.

BTW: You're less than intelligent for even considering doing this...I.E. posting about here. Insurance companies will do ANYTHING to keep from paying a claim.

From what I understand (I too have buldging discs in my back/pinched nerves) a chiropractor is a terrible idea for that type of injury. The type of spinal manipulations they do can actually cause more problems. But, then again you're thinking of going skydiving, so I guess a chiropractor isn't a bad idea for you.

You sure it's not the insurance company sending you a free pass to indoor skydiving?

Dude, ignore all the naysayers here...GO FOR IT! I can't think of a more fun way of turning bulging disks into herniated ones...With a bit of luck, you can totally blow one out, and cause some paralysis in your legs...

Seriously...if ya gotta ask...

Where should I be going instead then?

BTW, I did it and it was not stressful at all. I can't see how anyone could be injured in that situation.

Maybe there are much more powerful ones, but where I went, an instructor could even stand up, so the wind wasn't that harsh at all.

Anyhow, I'm fine, it didn't hurt one bit.

Most of the time? Nowhere. You're better off waiting and resting your back than continuously irritating it by a chiroprator. They are licensed doctors and they can help some situations. I dont know your situation, nor am I myself a doctor but I've seen people get hurt by chiropractors that were self proclaimed "necessary"

You sure you have buldging discs if you went skydiving? Once your nerves are pinched most people can barely walk much less do physical activity like that.

Where should I be going instead then?

Go see your doctor. Then you should look into physical therapy. Depending on where your problems are they'll test your strength and reflexes. For me, I didn't even notice it until I went to PT, but my right leg was probably onl 2/3 as strong as my left. No wonder I kept tripping over my foot.

You guys do realize indoor skydiving is just floating over a giant fan right?

Now if he asked about bungee jumping... then that'd get one big

A giant fan that produces enough thrust and force to keep you floating above the ground.

doctors..pffft ..what do they know...

besides bulging discs just means they are flexing showing how tough and strong they are...kind of like body builders

i say you do it...then try amateur wrestling to relax your stress away....how about bull riding....that sounds spendid as well

depends on the size of the bulge. I had a pretty massive one. But if you want it to get better you've got to do physio, and not do things that aggravate it. Like twisting or bending activities (assuming a lower back one).
Physio is the key to recovery. That being said, physio didn't work for me, and now I'm recovering from surgery, which was successful.
