What do I need if I want to start doing indoor rock climbing? Do I need any equipment or do those places rent them out? And how much do they normally cost?

Most places rent out equipment, but it gets expensive if you go often.
I'm not sure how much they cost. I bought my equipment a long time ago

If you're in the Bay Area, I went indoor rock climbing 2 weeks ago at Planet Granite in Belmont.

My GF and I were first timers, so we were required to take a belay training course. Lasted for about 1 hour. The next time we go, all we have to do is take a test to show we remember the key concepts from the course, and they'll give us a certificate of some sort.

Price:
$29 - which included the training, full day climbing pass, and all gear rental.

The 2 climbing gyms that I researched rented out equipment, and offered training courses.

Grab a partner and rent stuff until you decide you want to stick with it. Here, the first time is expensive ($50 i think)cause they have to certify you can belay (hold the rope) properly. After that, I think it is $30 for a day with equipment rental and $15 if you bring your own equipment.
