Indoor Gun range: Why 7 yard line?

at my indoor gun range, there are 3 lines:
7yards, 25yards (max), and one i forget

Why 7yard line? i thought of that as an odd number. I was expecting a multiple of 5 (ie: 5yard, 10yard, 25yard)
 
It is the average close combat distance as mandated in the US Marine Corp survival and combat manual.
 
Yea, if a guy with a knife is within 21 feet of you, you're still probably going to get cut.

Better to take him down when he gets to the 15 yard line. 😉

That's why I am usually in OFFCON 1 when I walk around town. Basically, anyone that gets within 45 feet gets capped. Better safe than sorry.

My friends and I refer to that as the foot of the bed line. 😛

Pretend you just woke up and your Mother-In-La...er, an armed bandit was at the foot of the bed.
