I have been experiencing some black screen crashes while gaming lately. Basically, the screen shuts off, the PC still appears to be on, but isn't responsive (as far as I can tell). Then, after a reset, Windows indicates that it was not properly shut down, but there are no errors in the logs except that Windows was shut down improperly.
I also had this happen with my 7970, which I RMA'ed for that and other reasons. I assumed it was the card at that time because I had previously owned a GTX 580 with zero problems. Now that the exact same thing has started happening with my GTX 560Ti 448 core, I started looking at other possible sources of the problem.
I tried running the card at stock settings, but it still crashed. I also did a fresh install of Win7. After taking two hours to do that and getting BF3 re-installed I was welcomed with a crash about 15mins into my first match.
At that point I started thinking about other components, and I found the following diagram on the Corsair forums for my PSU (HX1000), which indicates that I had been using the 12V2 rail from the permanently affixed cables.

I switched the card to the 12V1 rail via a set of modular cables so now I'm running the motherboard and video card on 12V1 and everything else on 12V2. So far, no crashes...
specs in sig are current:
Asus P6T Deluxe V2 | Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.71GHz | TRUE | OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3 @ 1420MHz
EVGA GTX 560Ti 448 Cores Classified 860/1720/2025 | Corsair F120 SSD | WD 1TB RAID0 | Corsair HX1000W
SilverStone RV01 | Lexicon Lambda | Deck Legend Blue | Logitech G5 | NEC PA271W | Win 7 Pro x64
...Does it sound like my 12V2 rail could be the culprit?
