Indians getting high off scorpion stings

"The trendy and the elite in India's wealthy western state of Gujarat, bored with mundane drugs, are turning to the sting of a scorpion to get their kicks... After the customer pays a fee of 150 to 200 rupees (about $A5-7) the scorpion is produced and placed on the body of the thrill-seeker, who is then viciously stung. Users say after the initial pain the venom produces an illusionary, floating feeling." In the words of one arachnid pusher: "You should try it at least once ... a lifetime experience."

Grooovy man.

LOL..

I could picture Jon Asscroft on this one.. "Okay, now we need a law that makes it illegal to get stung by a scorpion. Anyone found guilty should be thrown in jail."

Anyone see the Movie "Flypaper"

Lucy Liu and the pit (Empty swimming pool) of snakes?

If I could Hit Lucy, I'd let the snakes bite me all they wanted!!

hey my ancestors are from Gujurat (well some of them). I was there last summer for a week or so. Didn't see any scorpions though!

I can't believe they actually had an entry for that. I sure do love the information superhighway.

Not to mention Skid Row is/was a really bad '80s hair band.

gee, what's next - cobras?

my sister used to work as an counsellor for TTK (an alcoholic and drug addict deaddiction center)

and from the stories I have heard from what her patients used to get high on.. scorpion stings are the least of the problems.

They have snakes bite teh tounge of teh patient etc etc..

Apparnetly they banned tobacco products too (not cigarrete..but these chewing tobacco type things..dunno the english name for them). I visited a tobacco farm there to..it was stank!
