Indiana Jones and the Great Circle black screen bug

Been enjoying the game for about a weeks worth of play even though it's been out a month or so.. got the Black Screen issue. I've tried several tips from searched resources, e.g. TheGreatCircleConfig.local - changing the pool size, deleting the actual .local file, reinstalled the game 3 times now, did a revo uninstaller of the AMD drivers, and it's still giving me the issue. All other games work fine.

Have I missed something?

EDIT 1:

found a 'solution' on a Steam page. Ended up with corrupt or damaged save files. I had to delete the local files located here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\your unique steam id\2677660\

Deleted the 'remote' folder, and the remotecache.vdf file; and the entire 'MachineGames' folder located here:

C:\Users\yourPc\Saved Games\MachineGames

And I also turned off Steam Could backup for the game.

Started the game all over again and played it up to the first tutorial fight.

I am just now starting to manually backup the files in the steam folder '2677660' to see if this will help next time i get the black screen bug, so stay tuned, lol.

EDIT 2:

Played the game a little more through several auto save check points then ran the game through some boot up processes e.g. just starting the game, exiting, exiting steam, rebooting steam etc etc. Game worked fine. I then enabled steam cloud saving and the first thing I found out was that the cloud save files were bad - not sure if locally they were bad and got uploaded to the could or vice versa. When I re-enabled Could saving for the game through steam it asked if I wanted to use the save files locally or from steam cloud, with my new files backed up i tested the steam cloud files and the game black screened again. Went through the process of copying the backup files into the proper locations, disabled cloud backup, booted the game, the game booted up to my last locally saved progression without an issue. Exited everything, booted up steam, enabled cloud saving for the game, and when asked what file save I wanted to use I used the locally saved file which hopefully will overwrite the cloud file without an issue. Waiting to see the megabyte amount change which I assume will be the indicator that my locally saved files were written to the steam cloud.

EDIT 3:

Not sure if the whole black screen is a feature part of the archeological Indiana Jones puzzle games mystery but looking back now it sorta seems like one: trying to figure out wtf went wrong, lol. Machine games can you give us a clue next time? Thank you

Requesting a refund.

I do not recommend this game.

A second round with the black screen issue and several of the progress saved backup files are not working so I am done wasting time with this game.

It is on game pass, I will give it a go since I also have a 7900XTX. Nvidia being heavily involved, it would not surprise me if they take their sweet time fixing AMD PC bugs.

It's always been an issue of corrupted files for me. I've tried high fidelity graphic settings, low graphic settings, still keep getting corrupted files. Different GPU drivers too. People have reported the issue and threads have been made but I bet there are more people than not that have this issue. Seems when the save file gets big then the issue starts.

Still known issues with The Great Circle with the latest drivers, sigh.

I swapped out my 7900XTX for my 3080Ti and while it's not as fast my experience has been a little better than with my AMD card. I've had crashes but only 1 corrupt files incident and the backups I've continued to make remedied the issue.

I had to start all over again with the 3080TI but so far so good. I made it all the way into Gizeh, and the corrupt file incident ended up when looking for the Gold Medallion.

Not sure if it's related but doing a chkdsk /r /f seems to make the game run better. What I noticed was the save points were smoother and didn't stutter.
