They're following the herd and don't realize the infringements they're agreeing to until it's too late.

Can a HOA ban conservatives from being part of the neighborhood? I would so love to move to a neighborhood where conservatives were barred entrance from.

When I see my neighbors with their crazy Scott Walker signs, I have to physically repress the urge to do very bad and sinful things to their signage. The audactiy of those bastards to tarnish our neighborhood with their hateful messages is without parallel. This is my home for christ's sake. The last place I want to see the enemy is my own balliwick.

The question is this, why in America do I have to live near conservatives? Isn't this a free country? Why cannot I CHOOSE to live next to progressives?

And that is what is wrong with Liberals. They view their fellow neighbors as the enemy rather than just someone who has a different point of view.

I am a conservative but I love being surrounded by Liberals. They are very amusing and every once in a while one of them says something that actually makes sense. They are how I exercise my tolerance generator. I am pretty sure if I wasn't surrounded by them I would eventually become as hateful and intolerant as you seem to be.

My options at this pont:
1. Physically remove the signs
2. Deface the signs.
3. Tell the neighbors if they don't remove the signs, I will vote for Mary Burke.
4. Do nothing and complain about it bitterly on an anonymous bulletin board.

I would prefer options 1-3 but seeing as I got a streak of yella down my back, I will probably go with option 4. It really grinds my griddle though!

I suggest option #5:

Put up your political signs (thus announcing to your neighbors your political leanings).

BTW: I don't live in an HOA so there are no restrictions at all regarding political signage. I've managed just fine all these years by just ignoring them. That you can't may indicate something about you.

That is a great idea you had, however I have to question the legality of putting up Burke signs on their lawns. Are you absolutely sure that I can do that without getting in trouble?

lol +1

My neighbors run the gamut from ultra far left yellow dog Democrats to very far right ultra-conservatives. The ultra far left yellow dog Democrat will no longer associate with the very far right ultra-conservative lady. This is stupid; politics is merely one aspect of a person, and there is a virtual certainty that whatever party or ideology one adopts, that party and/or leaders of that ideology will soon do something one finds immensely embarrassing, assuming one is honest and thinking.

Fly the hammer and cycle.

Um..... fly a hammer and go bicycling? I will attempt to do exactly that but only if you promise to go back and get some remedial English lessons. Why are poor written communication skills the exclusive property of the right?

When you live in a nice neighborhood and have one or two filthy, trashy neighbors who just don't give a damn, then you'll wish you had an HOA. I wish my neighborhood had one. My only hope is that my trashy neighbors who are truly bringing down property values will dig themselves into a hole of bankruptcy and end up foreclosing on the house. That is a very slow process, though.

People are obsessed with this groundless idea that HOA automatically means some asshole with Napoleonic complex running around with a ruler getting on them about their lawn. That was certainly never my experience when I lived in one. But for most people without an HOA there are very few avenues to seek restitution if you have trashy neighbors who grew up in a trailer park and never learned how to behave themselves when in a decent neighborhood. I'm talking about vehicles left on the grass, trash littering their driveway, fences that are built the way a monkey would build something (and in short order they fall into disrepair), wood trim on the house peeling and rotting, gouges in the wood around their front door where their dog has spent months pawing at it trying to get into the house, trees/bushes that are left to grow wild etc. And not a thing I just mentioned is under the purview of the town to ensure gets resolved.

if it's a general restriction, it's not enforceable.

Well, I wonder if it'd be a first amendment issue as well. But then again, I'd love to see HOAs destroyed. Rules that you need to mow your lawn are fine. But they are often passed by the municipalities already. Rules you can't have certain dog types or you can't display certain things (or like in MA, you need approval to paint your own bloody house) are insanely stupid.

The irony here. Also, it's a free country. People can live wherever they want. You're a very sad person, if you believe people should be segregated based on political views.

I am ever so thankful that you aren't my neighbor. I'm sure you have pitbulls running around the neighborhood shitting on other people's lawns and attacking toddlers. Liberals at heart are simply more considerate and nicer people. When was the last time a liberal burned a cross in somebody's lawn, dragged a gay man down the road, bombed an abortion clinic or free ranged their cattle on taxpayer funded federal land?

It's a german shepherd/husky mix, actually. And pretty much every time I walk past a dog poo station, I grab a bag. And have bags on the leashes. My gf and I scoop the dog's poo, and she will actually scoop other people's poo when they're too stupid to pick it up themselves.

You should seriously seek professional medical/mental help.

Rampant,

Lemme guess, your dog attacked one of the neighbors and you are mad at them because they objected. You are outraged that people have the ability to live in neighborhoods that are NOT overflowing with vicious attack dogs? I thought you conservatives were all about freedom? Its not enough for you to choose your own community (non-HOA), you must destroy the ability of all others to choose their own community (by murdering HOA).

Regarding your free "advice". Thanx for that. Is that the only thing that conservatives are generous with.... their oh so valuable advice? Lol.

Wait, what? Clearly, since I view breed restrictions as annoying it means my girlfriend's dog attacked someone. Clearly.

You're not right in the head.

Yeah, my town has a rule on mowing your lawn. I think when it gets to 10" or something, which is basically a juvenile field, so basically no rule at all.

It's not retarded at all to have a law requesting people to get permission to paint their house. 99.9% of the time the town will say go for it and it's no big deal and they don't give a crap. It's the .1% of retards who want to paint their house pink or make it up like a gypsy mansion that these rules are made for.

I'm okay with people living like slobs, not mowing their yard, putting lawn ornaments all over the place, and parking their broken down cars on their grass all they want. As long as they live somewhere surrounded by trees with no neighbors. Otherwise their inability to live like a decent, clean, well-adjusted person directly impacts those around them in a negative way. Most of the laws of this country say you're free to do whatever you want until it starts to affect other people in injurious ways, hence HOA.

If you live in a nice house in a nice neighborhood you are desirous to keep it that way. I understand people who live in a slum and/or an apartment don't appreciate these things.

Rampant's argument makes no sense if you think about it. Not only doesn't he want to live in community with no HOA he wants to restrict the ability of other free Americans to live in a community with HOA.
