I've noticed that most (if not all) Indian people have this strange body odor. It's not sweat or anything disgusting like that, but it does smell a bit strange. So I was wondering: where does their odor come from? Their food?

I don't know if that's an ok question to ask or not.

Interesting question. My landlord at Berkeley was Indian too. His entire office was composed of Indians, and I also noticed a particularly distinct smell every time I came in to drop off the rent check. Strangely enough, on the those indians who had become americanized, i.e. my classmates, dormates, the smell was less distinct and sometimes non-existent.

this is true, most people don't know this but indians have sacs of posion under their armpits, if you are not careful they can spit in your face and kill you.

I worked on an Apple G3 laptop yesterday that had that SAME EXACT smell. It was horrible. This laptop was owned and used by a white girl, so I figured maybe she just had B.O, issues.

Then I asked around and found out that some older rubber keyboards in Apple notebooks have this problem. WTF?

You suck at describing smells. The body odor of an Indian does not smell like either. Like the OP said, it's very distinct. I think it's their diet.
