I was watching Bend it Like Beckham 🙂o) and I really dig the type of music they were dancing to at the wedding scene. Anyone know any good examples of Indian music similiar to that?

I don't like Indian music. Bagpipes, on the other hand, really get me going. 😀

Haha. This reminds me a joke about an octopus and a bagpipe.

Shafaatullah Kahn (Sitar and Tabla) will be playing in King Of Prussia on Aug 8. www.umconcerts.org for more info.

Also check out Shakti, one of the many collaborative efforts involving John McLaughlin and Ravi Shankar.

And Mantra Girl which is a very western take on eastern musical stylings.

Wedding music in that film, IIRC is the band playing mostly old Punjabi folk music and indian film music.

Wife comes home and catches me turned to the Indian Video channel and wonders WTF? I can never explain it. Especially when my little cockatiel is singing along, lol.

Oh, and HappyPuppy, the bagpipes rule.
