Malhotra and other witnesses reported that fire engines were delayed or had trouble getting water when they arrived. He said one fire truck broke down as it neared the site and bystanders had to push it.

Sounds like they need a little better funding.

Well, I hate to say it, but at least this proves we aren't the only ones that screw up once in a while.

Wow, if you can't trust the Indian Military flying a jet designed by the Russians, one which entered service more than 40 years ago, who can you trust?

India?s fleet is prone to crashes. In the past six years, the government has reported more than 100 crashes that killed 50 pilots.

Those pilots must have balls the size of watermelons

Can you say MiG-21, few(and poorly tooled) spare parts, and expedited training schedules?

Its roughly the equivalent of pulling someone straight out of drivers ed and putting them in an F1 car which had run several seasons races with no maintenance. Not a recipe for success.

You also have to take into account that the Indian Air Force has an extremely high op tempo with constant combat air patrols in very very rough conditions. Also, thier pilots are considered to be some of the best trained amongst the non-western nations, with a very competitive selection process and a high porportion of them holding advanced technical degrees in engineering disciplines.

Spare parts are not really a problem, as they long ago aquired the capability to indigenously manufacture most of what they need for thier older aircraft. However, any time you have aircraft that old in constant use youa re going to have crashes and failures. You would be amazed at the number of catastrophic failures that occur in US military aircraft every day. Luckily we have the funding to throw a LOT of money at our aging fleet to keep them running.

i wonder if the training they get is better than the stuff chinese pilots get?

b-52s stopped rolling off the ramp a couple decades ago, and they'll be in service for at least 3 more. of course, they get completely taken apart every decade or so, reskinned and all that.
