The war seems that is really happening.
Deterrence requires brinkmanship to both establish and uphold when challenged.
Anyone who hits you needs to know you will counter attack. Inflict a pain and a cost.
In the infliction of that pain, you become capable of suing for peace. You make them value peace.

It is the only proper course of action and that is how Russia should have been dealt with from day one.
Of course we always need to hope that cooler heads prevail with these nuclear powers. Because there is always a chance that they do not.
But being human, we have no other choice. This is how the game is played.

India keeps escalating.
Apparently Pakistan has not given them enough of a taste of blood. That will have to be the next shoe to drop.

India says it hit Pakistan air defences and accuses Islamabad of drone strikes

Well when you have terrorists hell bent on killing anyone not Muslim, you can't blame others for fighting back.

It's not the first time either. I remember I was in India in 2008 and Pakistan sent over terrorists that killed over a 100 people in Mumbai.

I was in Gaya at the time but I remember I was particularly irked by them targeting a family and saying they'll let them go after they have all their money from their bank accounts.. and then promptly shot the dad, the mom, and the 2 children point blank in the heads while on the phone with the hostage negotiation teams.

That audio as you can probably guess.. went viral at least in India and was replayed every 5 minutes that you cannot trust their terrorists to keep their word and let you go.

My point being.. I don't think India will just accept anything Pakistan says as being worth anything. They will want them unable to attack them again so there is likely to be a lot more escalation.

Didn't the same thing happen in the Kargil War?

In the opening days India was losing planes left and right and then they just brute forced a win?

The only thing I don't want to see is India attacking the Chinese Kashmir (the part called Aksai Chin)... once this happens... that's all BRICS.

This probably belongs in my CT thread but we always wondered if Russia got Hamas to start the Gaza war to weaken Biden politically (via Iran).

Now that the global trade war with America has started.. can anyone discount China telling Pakistan to use its religious terrorist facility to start a war with India so world trade suffers and it's harder for countries to do without China?

I certainly wouldn't dismiss the idea.. but proving it will be impossible. Too many things going on behind the scenes..

Trying to guess what the exit ramp looks like for either country.
I am going to assume India was happy with its missile strikes.
But now that Pakistan retaliated they're both happy to slug it out. To what end, I wonder?

Difficult to predict when one side has had enough.
And if that will be good enough for the other.

Pakistan still hungers. Round and round we go.

Pakistan Military Spokesman Says 'We Will Not De-escalate' With India
Pakistan's military spokesman said on Friday it would not "de-escalate" with India, after days of missile, artillery and drone attacks.
"We will not de-escalate -- with the damages India did on our side, they should take a hit," Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry told media at a briefing.
"So far we have been protecting ourselves but they will get an answer in our own timing."

Pakistan, Too Big to Fail.

^^^ Interesting and informative article on the long-standing and precarious financial position of this nuclear armed country.

And Pakistan is more guilty of genocide of it's minority population than Israel is.. but the west looks at it like.. nope we didn't see anything, hear anything or will say anything.

Build your own nukes and watch the USA tie itself in knots!

India... stopping short of immediate retaliation?

Indian Foreign Secretary calls on Pakistan to 'address violations'

Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has just given a short briefing, just before 23:00 IST (18:30 BST).
He says: "For the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding we arrived at earlier this evening.
"This is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today."
Misri says India's armed forces are "giving an appropriate response" and he concludes his briefing by "calling upon Pakistan to address these violations".
Pakistan has yet to comment on Misri's statement.
