Index.dat (How do i clear it?)

I have a program that clears the index.dat for the Internet Explorer (IE) but i do not know if this also clears out the index.dat for the Firefox.

Do these browsers share the same index.dat file?
Do i have to clear index.dat file for IE and run a different program to clear out the index.dat for firefox?

Firefox doesn't use it. So no, you don't need to do anything else except clear the history it FF.
