I purchased a ticket from DC to LAX a few weeks ago for $150 bucks roundtrip. I fly out on the 26th of Oct and return the 31st of Oct. Anyways, I woke up to a VM informing that they no longer will be making flights out there after October 1st. So I called to have my flight switched to a different carrier and they are refusing to do so. They will refund me my money, but I'm supposed to pay the difference of the increase over the last few weeks. Am I being unreasonable just asking for a freakin' plane ticket?

update:

I made a few more calls to Independence Air attempting to have them put me on a different carrier. Well today I got through to a supervisor and they put me on a Jet Blue flight (into Long Beach which is like 20 miles from LAX) so I am once again happy with Independence Air :) (and apparently i wasn't being unreasonable)

get your money back. they aren't responsible for you getting there if they don't fly there on the date you want to go

Exactly. As long as they are giving you a full refund, they're in the clear.

That's the risk you take for buying tickets on a struggling airline.

Obligatory "Who the hell is Independence Air?" It sounds like they are offering a full refund. You are not entitled to anything else from them.

At least you are getting your money back and you can make alternative plans. They weren't able to hold their end of the deal, so they refund the money.
