Incredibly slow latency issue in connecting to WinXP shared drive on my WLAN

FWIW, I did not have this problem until I bought a new computer (HP XW6200) and installed a fresh copy of WinXP SP2 on it, just as I did with my makeshift-NAS PC running a shared drive. I've got a 54G WLAN throughout on a standard 2WIRE/AT&T Yahoo! DSL router. Connecting is never an issue- accessing anything is. While it works, the latency is incredibly slow, taking up to a minute to transfer a 1MB file.

Can you guys think of any bottlenecks I'm missing? I'm very stumped. Thanks.

I'm not sure how to fix your problem, but low latency is a GOOD thing, high latency is when it takes too long to do something.

D'oh! Wrong syntax- not sure what I was thinking. Thanks.

Well I'm not sure how to fix it either, but it miraculously fixed itself sometime this afternoon. Not sure why it would have been so slow for the last two weeks and then clear up all of the sudden (of course after I post here to find a solution), but all's well now.

Err, thanks anyway, AT'ers! 😱
