Hi all,

I need a worksheet bigger than the maximum 256 columns. Can I increase the column count in a worksheet? Alternatively, can I change the starting point for the row & column values, with the columns in sheet2 starting at 257 (with R1C1 display settings).

I'm pretty sure I've seen this somewhere before, but as usual my mind may be playing tricks on me! :)

Any ideas?

TIA!

I have never heard that you can increase the number of columns in Excel past 256. People have been asking for that for years.

But you might consider this workaround I found on deja.com in response to someone asking the same question you did...

The Spreadsheet Control is one of the Office Web Components which comes with Office2000. It is an ActiveX control which can be placed in any document or container which supports ActiveX controls. It looks and feels very much like an Excel worksheet, even though it isn't really part of Excel. Nearly all of the normal worksheet function are available, but it doesn't support named range, array formulas, or multiple worksheets. Columns go up to ZZ, so you have 702 available columns. It also supports lots of additional events which Excel does not have, such as StartEdit, EndEdit, and CancelEdit.
