Increasing refresh rate on a LCDTV...

Will this effect the picture quality at all? I think I've that always heard that increasing the refresh rate increases the quality of the picture...Are there any negative sides to this? I believe on CRTs it'd cause flickering but never tried it before on LCD screens...

Thanks.

LCD's it doesnt matter. On CRT's it makes a large difference, at lower res and low refresh rate it causes flicker which is most annoying

run the LCD at its native setting. Nothing other than that.

If its VGA, its 75hz, DVI, its 60hz in most cases.

What if I increase it from 60hz to 70hz on DVI? That's the only way it lets me up my resolution from the native 1280x7xx

There is no advantage to increasing the refresh rate of an LCD -- the one you get represents the one it will use, increasing it will have no effect.

How come it lets me run a different res though? Just maybe a quirk with the particular monitor... ?

It's if you want bigger type or your video card can't support the native resolution. But it's always best to run it in the native resolution.

I mean it lets me run a better resolution not a worse one...it'll let me run 1920x1080 if I switch it to 70hz

Then do it, if the LCD supports that resolution. RTFM.
