Already been tried, and reposted.

Basically Ghost is creating overlapping partitions - The overlapping section is the "unlocked" space.

that's like the old trick of installing something on a floppy, quick formatting it, copy something else on top. Copy the stuff off, then run "unformat" to get the first data back. worked quite well back in the days of Dos 6.2.

HD space is dirt cheap these days. On the right deal, you can get better than 2GBs to the dollar. Why bother with this?
