Incorrect time displayed @ systray ...everytime!

Hey guys my time has been consistently incorrect. Always off by 24 hours or more. I constantly change it to normal time or synchronize with Internet Time yet it just keeps resetting back to the wrong time. Today, i tried synchronizing and it wont even change anymore. What's wrong with my time??

Do you have antivirus software installed? Norton and Mcafee like to do that all the time. Easy way to find out, set the clock right in the bios, reboot into safe mode. Set the clock again, reboot into safe mode again? Is it right? Then software issues are causing your problem.

Also check what time zone it's set to. At work, our log-in scripts sync the PC to the server, but if the PC is set for, say, Greenwich Mean Time, it's still going to display GMT time even after syncing to the server. Makes for some interesting schedules in Outlook...

Make sure you have the correct DATE and time zone selected. If you do then I'd suggest a CMOS battery repacement.

It's almost never the CMOS battery. It's quite easy to tell also, you boot into the bios, set the time, turn off the computer, go back into bios, and the time will be the same. Out of the 200 or so "time messup" calls i've taken, it's never been the battery.

check date in BIOS, and a defaulting date/time normally means a bad CMOS battery.

Out of the thousands of computers I've built and serviced over the years, cmos battery replacements can fix time-related issues. You can also check out Microsoft's KB Article 189706 for additional troubleshooting procedures.
