What does this mean, and am I about to have to my first UPS horror story?

Then again, it's been building up to it. I ordered a knife. This thing was supposed to be delivered to my dorm, and the delivery guy was supposed to either call my land line (via a call box) or cell phone to alert me when he was at the door. Apparently they "attempted" to deliver it twice, and yet I have no call logs, and I made sure I was there during delivery hours.

But here's the catch, this was a last minute thing, and I'm now at home for a week until my summer session starts. So I tried to re-direct via UPS, which resulted in one unproductive hour of messing around with the site and talking to computers with no way to reach a human at all. I literally tried every menu. :p

So I call up benchmade, and they redirect it in about 15 minutes. Yay!

And now this pops up.

incorrect routing means that this morning they loaded it on a truck to go out to you(dorm), then you changed the destination to your home. therefore, the computer thinks it was incorrectly routed in the first place, and until the tag gets changed and the QA dept redirects it it is in the wrong pipeline.

Stop giving him false hopes. I just put in a new bid.

I'm redirecting, so he doesnt have time to find the proper auction and destroy the whole shebang!

Be careful not to complain about UPS. They are an army of ninjas. Not very good ninjas, but still.

If my experience is any indicator, the knife is now on the way back to wherever it shipped from. Consider yourself fortunate you never reached a human at UPS.

Yeah, this just happened to me with a Newegg package.

Normally newegg packages go:

Memphis->Suburb of Kansas City->Kansas City->Nebraska (my state)

All my other packages in this build did that except 1, currently it has gone:

Memphis->Russellville (Incorrect Routing noted here)->Knoxville->Indianapolis->Suburb of Chicago

Where it goes next is anyones guess.

Better than the time a package got sent to Anchorage I guess.

They can't seem to get to my house (or a previous apartment, or actually deliver anything to my work), so I think I'm ok in saying that, in my experience.... they suck. :)
