"incorrect function" when copying video off a SD card to computer

ok, so i got the best video ever (taken by me at an event) of something happening on my camera's SD card and then the card ran out of space and i got the error "memory card full." i immediately went up to unload the video off the card and got an error when copying it to the HDD. i tried to do so in DOS and here's the error:

F:\DCIM\100CANON>copy mvi_0434.avi c:
Incorrect function.
0 file(s) copied.

i also tried opening it with VirtualDub and it said
Cannot read from file "MVI_0434.AVI": Incorrect Function

i MUST get this video off the card - i'm ready to edit it if i can but it seems to be impossible at this point. does anyone have any recommendations on how i can do this? i have no idea what section this help request goes in; maybe you'd know software that works better than DOS or VirtualDub 😛

thx!!!!

I would say try some file recovery software, treat it as if you deleted it and want it back. It sounds like some sort of corruption happened.
