The statewide electeds are really terrible here but exceedingly proud they are unnecessarily large pieces of shit. Never really seen anything quite like it.

Not incomprehensible at all. That equipment is reserved for drug busts where they can seize property to auction off. How are they supposed to make any money protecting kids from getting murdered?
I hope it was cowardice and not corruption that prevented them from confronting the gunman.

Cops in that town did find somebody with a gun to detain during the massacre...

Dude, that guy.

....he's just going to get bitter and bitter and bitter about these people and that place. A young cop. His team forced him not to save his dying wife. Holy shit.

He isn't going anywhere. They aren't going to do anything to him, and he's just going to get more and more bitter. This is not going to go well for Uvalde.

School district police Chief Pete Arredondo called the Uvalde police department landline and reported that their suspect had “shot a lot” with an AR-15-style rifle and outgunned the officers at the school, who he said were armed only with pistols, the outlets reported.

I'm having trouble reconcilling this comment from the police chief, with the comments made by some in this thread that there's nothing especially dangerous about "assault weapons" like AR-15s compared to handguns. Seems the police chief, rightly-or-wrongly, thought otherwise.

A group of trained police officers do outgun a child with a semi-auto long rifle. The fact that no police were hit tells me they didn't try to engage.
