Incomplete XP repair

a friend had a problem with an "Unmountable boot volume" blue screen.
we tried several things, and eventually had to run a chkdsk /r on the PC.
It took quite a while, but finally we got the machine up and running again.
There were 4 users on the PC when it crashed (incomplete install of a program)
Now that we have the machine back, 2 of the users are completely functional,
and the other 2 users are not. When you try to login under those 2 users, we get
a message saying a Temp setting is being established. We then also have no connection to things like their "MyDocuments" or "My Pictures" folders. The folders are there but not their stuff. The users stuff is all present in the C: drive though (documents and settings).
They also have no internet connectivity under those 2 users.
I guess my question is, is there an easy way to "reconnect" the formerly exisitng user to there folders and files? and basically make them fully functional again?
Thanks in advance for any help!
