Well, I've started the hunt for a new job. Went in to get my paycheck yesterday and found they STILL haven't given me the raise I was supposed to get as a result of a promotion I got over 2 months ago, but they didn't hesistate to cut my bonus from $600+ a month to a flat $150. Even with the raise, I'm losing money, but as it stands right now the promotion is costing me over $450 a month.

One person who was promoted around the same time as me got their raise this paycheck, but now gets to attempt to get the backpay he's owed. The response from senior management about when they'll start working on the backpay? "We'll get to it eventually." I'm guessing if I get the raise by the end of the year, it'll be at least Febuary before I get the money they owe me.

On top of everything else (policy changes they yell at us about, but don't feel it necessary to tell us about, hiring hordes of technically illiterate individuals to do tech support and expecting us to make them qualified while they're on the phones, etc...), this is the last thing I needed. Bleh.

So, anyone know of any jobs in the Las Vegas area?

-edit- I'm just ranting more than anything else here.

-edits 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 for spelling and such :p-

...promoted around the same time as me...

Also: You're worth what you get paid. It isn't fair, but it's the way.

You are doing what you need to. If you feel your employer is unfair, find another job. After you quit, if you have still not received your back pay, take your case to the State Labor Board.

I never claimed to have language skills of which to be envious. ;)

appopin;

Back pay is not the same as pay promised. ;)

(Presuming that's approximately what you meant, of course.) :p

The problem is I'm not getting paid what I'm worth, or even what I've been promised. I could make more doing less at another call center (I'm a tech support product specialist (when you're put on hold by tech support so the tech can get help, I'm the person they're asking for help)), but I don't want to quit during the Christmas season. Unfortunatley my employer hasn't exactly been quick to remedy the situation, so I'm taking care of it myself.

UG, let me clearly explain what I mean to say to Rendus:

If you feel you have been wronged by your employer find another job. If you have money owed to you by your former employer, make a complaint to the State Labor Board.

Making a complaint to the Labor Board assumes Rendus has a good case. If he does not, he should ignore that part of my suggestion and continue on in his new job without filing a complaint against his former employer.

On the lower half of the employee ladder, employees get get paid what the employer can afford. On the upper half of the employee ladder, employees get paid what they're worth.

Employees are worth at least slightly less than they can generate, or they're too expensive, and expendible.

Work to be worth at least slightly more than you're paid, or you aren't worth it.

apoppin;

Ah! A topic about which you can be hyper-sensitive, not just defensive. ;)

:p

I guess faith does no good in employment situations. ;)

:D :)

UG, another of your assertions - this time, my hypersensitivity.

Evidently, Rendus understood what I wrote. He did write of being "owed". I simply clarified to you what I meant.

EDIT: We have to define "faith" for us to decide if it has any place in employmnent situations.
