Inches away from getting into a car accident this morning

I was following this lady in one of those chevy hhr around a long curve in the road. We were going about 50 (speed limit was 50) and I kept a good 3 cars distance from her. As I glanced in my rear view mirror and looked back to the road she somehow lost control of her suv and she slid to the left into the left lane. She tries to correct this and fishtailed back into the right lane. Once she straightened back out she slams on her brakes and just stopped there in the middle of the road.

When I first saw her fishtailing I slowed to 35-40 thinking once she straightens out she'll go on her way. With her stopped in the middle of the lane I had to slam on my brakes and I was able to stop with about 1/2 foot from her bumper. After waiting about 5 seconds or so and realizing she isn't going to go I finally went around her. As I drove by I looked over and saw her wiping her mouth and chin with a tissue so I'm thinking she was probably drinking her coffee or some type of drink and wasn't paying attention to the road, lost control and spilled her coffee/drink all over herself.

Not that I am better, but you will hear a lot of people complaining about driving distance...

EDIT: Boy, I called that one 😉

Probably messed up her lipstick. One nearly hit me headon a few years back putting on her makeup, that or she thought we were in England. Women are a hazard behind the whee... Women are a hazard.

3 car lengths at 50 mph is too close...

I had plenty of distance to stop in time. I just didn't expect her to slam on her brakes after she corrected herself. If I applied maximum braking pressure I could of stopped with atleast a good car length left.
