interesting story. Apparently they were separated as children, met again later and fell in love. Now they have 4 kids and the state (Germany) is taking them away. The rulings are based on laws from 1871.
Now medically it has been proven that children of close relatives don't have a significant increase in medical problems compared to parents who are not related. Their lawyer also brings up the interesting point that society permits people with hereditary defects to reproduce, allow women over 40 to do so even though that has been proven to lead to more medical issues.
So, where do you stand? If they are a functioning family I can't see that putting the parents in jail and taking the kids will do anything. the guy has already been sent to jail once and is bound to get sent again.
Is this another out moded ideal from a time where we didn't know all the facts?
