I don't think much more needs to be said, I responded to a lifer's borderline trolling of a post, mod comes in elitist behavior, then other members aside from myself offer solutions. I honestly expected the thread to get locked first but it seems like it might be heading in a positive direction now in spite of the mod's post. Doesn't this just seem backwards? Shouldn't a thread be guided towards a positive tone by mods?

He wasn't moderating you. He just offered his opinion, and it was a perfectly reasonable one (may be right, may be wrong, but not unreasonable).

This seems pretty nitpicky to me, and the fact that he is a moderator is irrelevant. Since he wasn't acting as a mod, then your issue is with his comments. And his comments are fine.

The only problem I see with that thread is you trying to act like a moderator.

Did you even read when I said, or just the first 3 words? Is calling someone knowledgeable and recommending informing a moderator the actions of a moderator? Or is the title itself a free pass for arrogance? Actually forget it...just another reason for my 0.25 post per day rate here over the last 4 years.....

I read exactly what you said. You had no business correcting Spidey. So far you've accused of of inappropriate behaviour, elitist behaviour, and now arrogance. All I see here is mod baiting.

Way to back your boys....I'm done here

This comment is out of line. The next one will result in action.

We took the time to come in here, read your perspective, and give you an answer. If you have no confidence in our ability to be objective, that is your right, but please don't waste our time asking for an opinion and then accusing us of bias when it's not the opinion you want to hear. Whether you believe it or not, I would have taken up your cause - IF you had been in the right. You weren't.

For what it's worth, Spidey's reply posted what's perhaps the most important help given in that thread: read Comcast's ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY! I don't know where people get the idea that they offer unlimited bandwidth.

The Service is for personal and non-commercial residential use only. Therefore, Comcast reserves the right to suspend or terminate Service accounts where bandwidth consumption is not characteristic of a typical residential user of the Service as determined by the company in its sole discretion. Common activities that may cause excessive bandwidth consumption in violation of this Policy include, but are not limited to, numerous or continuous bulk transfers of files and other high capacity traffic using (i) file transfer protocol ("FTP"), (ii) peer-to-peer applications, and (iii) newsgroups, whether provided by Comcast or a third party.

And, I find nothing wrong with calling 420GB of bandwidth usage in a month an obscene amount. Probably better than 99.9% of people who use that kind of bandwidth in their homes are illegally downloading pirated material. I'm not going to automatically extend a presumption of innocence to someone who provides more than enough circumstantial evidence to indicate he's breaking the rules. In fact, asking for help in circumventing Comcast's controls is a huge no-no in my book and indicative that the OP has no remorse in breaking the rules. He wants to break even more rules to allow the former rule breaking to go unpunished. The only other good advice in that thread was to make sure no one is leeching off a wireless connection or using his computer as a zombie slave.

Over-react much? There are a bunch of moderators in that thread but no one was exercising their power. Nobody edited your post or served anyone any warnings. It's a perfectly civil, on-topic thread and I fail to see what set you off.

I responded to a lifer's borderline trolling of a post, mod comes in elitist behavior

I read the thread again. Results: trolling and mod elitism not found. 😕
