In your youthful ignorance, did YOU ever think you'd found a hangover cure?

I know i did

I can assure you that after 5 years of college, i KNOW that there is no such thing as a hangover cure, except drinking in moderation.

Sure, some nights you seem to pull up brilliantly, but it won't work on a regular basis ;)

Cure no? But a milkskake a bacon cheeseburger always seemed to minimize the damage.

OH MAN... that sounds SOOO good right now.... what a long night at work it's been.

Oddly enough, I don't think I get hangovers in the first place. I've been so wasted drunk that I've passed out and thrown up repeatedly, and I always seem to wake up without any issues the following morning. I have no complaints. Well aside from throwing up. All that alcohol wasted.

If your gut is made of steel to handle a milkshake and a bacon cheeseburger, I don't see how you can get hungover in the first place.

Anyway, drinking water the night before is the only way to avert a hangover, because a hangover = dehydration.

Hehehe, I love how subtle this thread is! No cure. Coffee can get rid of a mild headache for me, but otherwise, just time and plenty of fluids.

Again, not entirely true. The hangover is partly the dehydration, and partly your body purging itself of the poison/trying to deal with the poison you've pumped into it.

I've drunk enough water that i literally sloshed before i went to bed, and was peeing quite freely the next day, but been remarkably nauseaous and horrifically hungover the next day. By the same token, i've been dehydrated as all hell (like, not peed until 4pm while drinking fluid all late morning/arvo), but felt otherwise pretty good...

Why yes... I still do. Two of them, as a matter of fact. Both are very effective.

1. Time
2. Abstinence.

I don't drink much anymore, but I'm planning on it this weekend

For me, if I start mixing shots and beers I'm toast the next day. One of my old hangover cures was an enormous fattie in the morning - preferably done when you wake up drunk.

Eating something before I crash out and switching to water for the last two always seems to alleviate the 5-bell hangovers a bit IMHO.

edit: oh yeah I think my point was that once I reach a certain point in consumption, there is really no effective means of stemming the tidal wave of hangover that is on the way. You wanna play, you gotta pay ;)

Well if you get so drunk that you puke everything up really fast early in the night (9:30PM) you might beat it the next morning.

In my ignorant youthful days, my hangovers weren't quite so bad. Never found a cure, but there are ways to prevent them. Unless you really overdo it, in which case there *will* be pain.

There is a way to get rid of a hangover, though I wouldn't exactly call it a cure, since you're trading one state of mind for another. It involves the smoking of a substance that rhymes with mannabis, and apparently its frowned upon in the community so you can't really do it lawfully. If you do choose to do it, especially when you have a hangover, then it suddenly disappears though now you're baked if you have some of the "fire."

If I wanted to not to get a hangover, I'd always drink a glass of water in between each beer I had. Never failed me.

I agree with TheDro... that is seriously, by far, the best way to cure a hangover. I've been laying down in the back of a vehicle trying not to get sick and ten minutes later felt absolutely fine. I don't partake anymore though so I have to resort to other means.

A bunch of water before bed usually helps the most for me. As for eating, if I'm that hungover the next day I can't eat anything for awhile so that don't work.
