Just curious, applied for a job that was posted on May 20th with a deadline on May 30th, and I applied on the 30th.

Do companies usually wait for all resumes to come in before the deadline?

They hire when they find the right candidate, in my experience.

When I was a hiring manager, I usually just collected up resumes at my leisure. You see, I am in a position of power, therefore those who are applying, are, in general, at my mercy. I should note that I do collect *all* resumes, so yours should get through. This is because (and all hiring managers know this) each resume represents a person who could possibly be the perfect candidate, so it is unwise to ignore one turned in on the very last day. Heh, I remember one guy who actually hand delivered his resume at 1600 on the deadline. His resume was superb, and I hired him on the spot. Had I not accepted his resume, I would have missed out on possibly the greatest torturer in the pacific northwest. His skill is truly something to behold.

I agree. They all go into a pile and get evaluated. When they were submitted doesn't matter

At the job I am now, I was hired 3 months before the posting deadline. I guess they'll hire as soon as they find the right person.

I know places hire people on the spot but still have to create a fake job descriptions and bring in people (minorities) for interviews to satisfy the equal oppurtunity/AA crap.

So yes, it is entirely possible they already have the position filled. It is possible that it was filled before anyone even interviewed for it.

It's almost impossible with 98% of the companies hiding their email address and telephone.

I had an opportunity with one. They sent out a mass email saying he was going to be out of town for a couple of days. I sent out an email the night before he came back asking if I was still being considered. No reply.
