in Windows can you change manually UDMA modes?

I don't know much about hard drives, but according to a freeware utility I have (HD Tune 2.52) it says:
supported: UDMA Mode 5
active: UDMA Mode 4

Since UDMA 5 is faster to my knowledge, how can I enable it? I have win 2000 on a 2001 compaq laptop, the hard drive is fujitsu mht2060AT
There is nothing in the bios to adjust hard drive settings. Also assuming I can manually change DMA modes, is there a downside from changing from mode 4 to 5?
