In what order should I install BF2?

I have:

BF2 DVD edition
BF2 Special Forces
BF2 AF
BF2 latest patch

I have tried many combinations already that have resulted in my being unable to play online. AF will not install without patch 1.3 or later and the latest patch needs to patch AF, but at this point BF2 and SF is only at 1.1 and thus will not accept AF and AF cant get the final patch........ Why cant EA make it easier?

Yeah their patches are badly written and the whole system doesn't work very well. And speaking of that, have they ever got an incremental for 1.41 (latest)? It was like the most minor patch ever, but as usual their incremental didn't work so they took it down, but I dont even think they ever put it back up. So now my CD with full 1.4 is useless and I need to burn 1.41 full now for the small, mostly server-side change.

Anyway, I don't have AF, but it sounds like you need to do:

BF2
BF2 SF
Full 1.3 patch (unless you trust a 1.2 > 1.3 incremental, since SF patches to 1.2, but if you have a fast connect I'd recommend full 1.3)
BF2 AF
BF2 latest, full 1.41 patch


Well... I thought SF patched to 1.2 but I guess that's not true. So you'll probably need 1.3 full anyway. Have you tried that combo?

Last I checked, EA owned DICE.
