In Unix, what does the command find -f do?

What does the -f do?

Straight from the man page:

"-f Specify a file hierarchy for find to traverse. File hierarchies
may also be specified as the operands immediately following the
options."

I guess that means you have to specify the directory you want to start from? I've never tried that option before.
