In todays newer games, is there a real point in using 32 bit color?

I know there will be a slight increase in image quality and such, but generally I cannot really tell the difference when playing some older games. My question is, for todays and tomorrow's cutting-edge games, will this still be true? Will I be able to have pretty nice graphics without having to suffer the speed hit from 32-bit color?
Thanks in advance for any responses :)

32-bit color defiantely looks better in some instances such as where smoke is rising, fog, and blue sky. In other situations you cannot tell the difference between 16-bit and 32-bit color.

But, Since the advent of the GeForce4-Ti4x00 and the ATI RADEON 9500 Pro/9700 Pro 32-bit color is basically free as there is only the slightest decrease in performance from 16-bit.:)

32-bit isn't much if any slower now so I don't see the point in not using it.
Plus it looks better. ;)
