In this recipe for chicken parmesan...

It says I need six chicken breast halves. Does that mean what I think it does, where I cut the chicken breast on its side rather than on the top?

in my experience it really doesnt matter. I would come in from the top cause its generally easier to cut. But just make sure your cut is falt.

Also, you can buy halves at the grocery store here.

Half a chicken breast is one typical boneless, skinless cutlet, I'd say.

EDIT: Or maybe not. I don't know...I need coffee. Post the recipe.

NONONO.... a breast half is what you think of as a chicken breast. They are simply saying that if you are butchering your own chicken, that you would split the breast in half down the midline.

what does it matter?! its chicken breast! Bread it, fry it, slap some sauce and mozz chees on it and bake it!!!!

Yeah, that's what I think. Usually simple recipes make it more clear though (six split breasts or six boneless skinless chicken breasts).

Whatever you do, just make sure it is cooked all the way through.

Salmonella and other diseases you can get from poultry suck.

never got them, and never plan on it (said as I turn my hamburger into a hockeypuck).
