In their quest to be "woke" Victorias Secret failed to mention they still discriminate against short women.

(for those who dont know, VS has long had an official policy of no women under 6 feet tall)

Or did they make an exception this time?
And does this really change anything? Or are they still promoting women as objects?

I'm fine with women as objects, but I'm not claiming to be progressive or woke.

damnit, i'm a dude under 6 feet, so i guess i'm doubly disqualified.

i probably consider myself more woke than you yet i really don't see the problem. I'm pretty sure there are lingerie companies that specialize in big and short. in a man's eye, is it possible to sell lingerie without them seeing women as objects?

Seriously, OP, you need to seek help. Only you can take a thread like this and start showing how weirdly obsessed with women in bizarre fucked up ways you are. Or are so focused on stupid shit that you'll make up dumb claims to try and frame a stupid argument in the absolute dumbest manner possible. So, either you knew her height, or you're just going off about height because you're probably so immasculated by tall women that you're trying to take something like this and make it about your hatred of tall women.

You're right, women only buy underwear to be sex objects. Do you guys ever listen to yourselves?

There was a male college student working at our local VS the last time the wife and I went in there. The wife asked me if I thought he was gay, I said no he's probably just extremely intelligent.
As far as the 24 year girl, good for her if that was a dream of hers.

What with me being SFOU (short-fat-old-ugly) and viewing stuff like this:

It's all a fantasy kind of thing that would have me thinking of one thing and one thing only, far removed from how tall women should be to be a VS model.

I don't see a 6' requirement in the press release.
The OP said, "For those who don't know" which would tell he was giving info that he knew was not in the link.

Maybe he was the product of immasculated conception.

But looking at your dismissive reaction to his claim not to be woke or progressive, however, and a condition he seems to be aware of and does not try to hide, something I myself find rather admirable, I can't help but get the feeling that your need to put him down has more to do with you than with him. Do you hate yourself for objectifying women and project it onto him? There are many levels on which we can listen to ourselves.

The only thing Victoria's secret had going for it was hot models wearing as little as possible. What are they doing now. low carbon thongs in XXXL?

Can you define what "woke" means to you? I'm genuinely curious. Is hiring a black person "woke"? Is hiring someone with a cognitive disability considered "woke" to you? Is it "woke" to not like the fact that black people are arrested at massively higher rates than white people for crimes they commit equally? Can you provide a personalized definition of what it means to you and maybe provide examples of a few things that are "woke" and a few things that don't qualify? At this point I'm lost, but it is often used by conservatives whenever a black human being is involved in something that turns out positive for them.

Since I'm not woke, no, I dont have to define it strictly. C'mon, think about it.
But let me tell you where iIm going with this since it wasnt obvious enough.

VS was all about shallow glamour. Its beautiful women in lingerie who don't really speak or say anything interesting. And part of that image was you had to be at least 6 feet tall to work for them. At least that was the rule for decades. Tall skinny women look even skinnier than short skinny women, and the long legs look leggier than medium legs. That was their whole concept. It was all about appearances. And that was fine for decades before the modern woke crowd showed up and started questioning everything men and women had done to the female image for decades. WHICH IS FINE. But it puts VS in a weird position. If they want to keep sales they have to pander to modern customers. And make no mistake about this, they are pandering. Do you think a major company gives a shit about feelings? Or humanity? Or the environment?
FUCK NO!
They give a shit about sales. So they donate to charities once in a while, and make a big deal about it in the news. And they occasionally do something modern, like hire a special needs girl to be one of their models even though based on those pics she is clearly not meeting their original 6 foot requirement, and they can say "LOOK HOW FUCKING MODERN WE ARE YOU COCK SUCKERS! BUY OUR OVERPRICED SHIT!" and its so damn obvious I'm really scared no one else can see it.

This is the modern corporate woke, which still does not give a shit about anyone but it looks cool and they can exploit it for sales.

And I think you should stay lost. Cuz the real world is too complicated and scary for you. And don't look to guys like me for answers in life, thats just sad. I can't help you deal with life. And I wouldn't if I could.

your take on it sure is....something. a sales based company changing to keep selling stuff is now "woke"?. I mean, c'mon man....it's entirely predictable, that's what it is.

Fwiw, I never looked at a VS model and thought "damn she's tall, mmm mm mm".

Have seen plenty of not tall women shopping there as well. Bought stuff there for my shorty wife and never once had anyone ask if she was tall enough to ride this ride. 😏

If WE give a shit about people and each other, that's what matters. It's not surprising a company will choose to make money over losing money, and it can totally be a good thing that they change with society. There instances where it won't be, but this doesn't seem like one.

I mean, if people call them on it and they change their ways, that's a good thing!

Also, there's not real definition for "woke". The common trend in modern conservativism is short and sweet, mindless catchphrases that can morph into whatever they want to attack. And it's pretty much 100% projection at the same time. Woke, virtue signal, cancel culture, all examples of behavior that conservatives have been doing for centuries, but are either too dumb to realize this, and / or suffer from cognitive dissonance, or simply don't care because of their inherit tribalism.

Granny pants are underwear, what VS and other make is geared at something completely different, it's not to make then into sex objects but is to make them at least feel sexy if not show sexy.

If you've bought VS for your SO but want another option: 'Fredericks of Hollywood'. It's a bit more risque than VS. I use to order things for my ex from there, and she liked their stuff better than VS, especially for the prices. Their marketing and advertising was one of the biggest reasons she didn't care for VS, fwiw.
