Fine. Then I posit that the reason socks go missing in the wash is because they are stolen by invisable pink unicorns.

It is up to you to prove they are not.

See how that works?

Study after study for over 25 years has not been able to find any connection between aspartame and any of the countless maladies that the myth people attribute to it. And it's not for lack of trying... because aspartame (and any other chemical) has had it's irrational enemies since it was released.

i know for a fact that something in sugar free gum gives me canker sores

i dont know what it is so i have just avoided all of them

there has been a 100% correlation for me in the last two years

i give up gum for a few weeks

chew one piece for a few hours and bam the next day i have them

i really dont know if it is from aspartamine though because i drank a diet dr. pepper last week and had nothing

it never fails with carefree koolerz gum or trident (bubblegum flavor) which are my favorite

You give up gum completely, or switch to sugar gum?

Ever think that maybe it's the act of chewing gum that causes your sores?

Do either one of you have the uncommon genetic disorder called phenylketonuria?

If not, there is no valid reason to avoid Aspartame.

Don't be a myth spreader/believer:

There are people out there that have adverse reactions to Aspartame without having phenylketonuria.

Have any peer reviewed and repeated studies proving this?

No and it could be psychosematic but I still know someone that has an asthma attack and someone who's joints swell up whenever they eat it even if they don't know they ate some until after the reaction.

Aspartame triggers horrible headaches whenever I have any. Like clockwork.

Myth:

--Aspartame triggers headaches. Wrong again, says Susan Shiffman, a
medical psychologist at Duke University who conducted a double-blind
placebo-controlled trial of 40 "aspartame sensitive" people. A little
probing often revealed the real trouble. One woman, who often ate
peanuts with her diet soda, was allergic to peanuts. Another drank too
much caffeine.

In fact, the most likely reason for headaches attributed to aspartame is really caused by the caffeine found in most diet drinks.

While I cannot offer any "scientific" proof, Aspartame DOES give me headaches, beit from a diet drink, candy, or from a home-made meal with aspartame in it.

I just don't understand why the candy industry doesn't offer more choice.

There isn't anything difficult to understand here, there's no profit in it. I'm sure there are tons of people who would buy it, but there are probably a 1000x more people who don't care/doesn't matter to them. At least now anyway.

Because everybody here thinks artificial sweetener is the end-all-be-all.
I can't find children's toothpaste without it anymore, Oral-B used to make it w/out aspartame, but no longer.
I hate the stuff.

Check out the "Tom's of Maine" brand.

I have actually heard that recently, but haven't gotten any yet. I think my wife said whole foods carries it...
Thanks 🙂

Exactly. I can drink DrPepper, Coke, Pepsi, Mountain or any caffinated beverage. But as soon as I have a "Diet" varient I will always, without fail, 100% of the time get a horrible headache. Same with "Diet" gum and candy.
