They are removing the WTC from any new movies that have not been released, Spiderman and the new Arnold Schwartzisname movie are 2 that I heard mentioned....also network exec are looking at the upcoming fall series and removing any reference to WTC and jokes in bad taste about terrorism and such.

yup, there is a pretty large list of movies that have the world trade centre as part of it that has to be removed.
they say spiderman might have to be completely redone because many scenes in the movie were supposed to be filmed at the wtc.

I realize that the WTC incident is VERY tragic, but is sheltering us from images of the towers gonna make people feel better? Will people that were injured and people that lost loved ones in the hijackings tremble in fear or be angry at the images of the standing towers?

The American way seems to be: HIDE from the truth b/c it's too scary...

There have been movies depicting bloody carnage in Vietnam, the Civil War, the attack on Pearl Harbor, etc, etc etc. BUT that's ok b/c it happened a long time ago.

i was flipping through the new issue of wired this morning and came across a review of some new rap album. on the cover was a picture of the rappers standing at the base of the wtc while the camera looked up at them and it showed the tops of both towers in the background exploding right about the spot where the two planes hit.

very creepy. im sure that will be changed immediately

What is really scary is that they were "asked" to remove the stuff by an unnamed gov't official....sounds like censorship to me.
One of the biggest scenes in Spiderman has Spiderman capturing a helicopter in a web stretched between the towers......I saw pics of it somewhere on the web.

The movie execs. are trying to put forth a good image. I am sure that half of the decision is based on the recent events and the other half is based on increased revenue for have such a humanatarian attitude.

Yes, they are removing the scene with the WTC from the Spiderman movie. It shouldn't be too hard because only a couple of the big scenes were shot in Manhattan. Most of the movie was shot in LA. and most of the sceneries were shot in Forest Hills, Queens in NYC. Besides the helicopter scene, there's not a lot of scenes were spiderman is involved by the WTC. Most were just shots of the city from far. I believe spiderman is still scheduled to come out May 3rd, 2002.

edit: The trailer has been removed from Sony's website, but you can find it on Morpheus
