He gives karen a few grand and then tells her about some dresses he has, and the whole thing is suspicious, and he asks her to turn down a dark alley to where the dresses are supposed to be. Was that a setup? was Jimmy intending to kill her?

IRL, we don't know except that (in her own words) she got scared. Goodfellas was written by Henry Hill, and Jimmy Burke Conway is dead.
