NSA wants to be able to crack everything.. just in case thing. Everyone knows that if they can crack it then someone else can and thats why people were pissed.

Well first of all, the NSA never wanted the algorithm to be public, i.e. how the S-boxes and P-boxes and key-management worked..
Brute force attack can be used to decipher key given plaintext and ciphertext, 56(BAD!) 128(GOOD!)
