So I'm looking of a new tablet. I've kinda been looking at the new Asus Infinity. But I'm wondering if I should wait for Tegra 4. I've also thought about just going with an ultrabook as well. (different animal I know). Then there is Surface Pro. My thing with Surface Pro is that given the size, weight and cost and ultrabook starts to look attractive. Racking my brain trying to decide what direction to go. Wish I had a clearer picture of what was on the horizon. Decisions, decisions... Not sure what my budget is... depends on what I"m looking at. Meaning I'd pay more for a more powerful ultrabook vs. a tablet.

Or should I just succumb to the IPad 4 and get it over with?

What do you plan to use it for?
Are there any specific features/apps/accessories that you want?
Do you have a preference for a specific operating system?
Is portability more important, or is power/capacity more important?
What is your budget range? (under $200, $200-$400, $500-$800, $800+)

Hmmmmm...good question. I kinda want to stay $600-ish or less. Want to use if for as much as possible. Portability is important, don't want it to have dimensions more than 12"x9"x.75" when in carrying "mode".

I'm waiting for a Tegra 4 Transformer I suppose. Just can't beat that battery life with the dock, and all the expandable storage options. Hopefully they don't bork it up and pull a google. And the LCD isn't shit again with light bleed and dead pixels.

Pissed that it is taking so damn long. Would have bought a Prime or even an Infinity at release if I knew it would be such a long wait. Tegra3 came out like 6 months after Tegra2, and it has been well over a year and still going waiting on T4.

If you decide to wait for the next gen, you may end up waiting for quite a while. Not to scare you, but that's what it looks like. I am thinking at least summer time. The first one to debut (possibly before summer) is going to be retina iPad mini, but depending on how you look at it it can be considered "new," or "same old."

In the mean time, you could get by with a no-name tablet or a used one from eBay. That's what I would do at this point. Of course there is the shiny Surface RT/Pro that just came out if you're into Windows.

Some tablet news sites are saying that Samsung could possibly debut a new Galaxy Tab 3 10.1" with their own quad-core 1.6ghz SoC as well as the Note 8.0 at MWC and they could be available in March (possibly.) But a Retina iPad Mini sounds cool too. Hopefully they will put an A6X chip in it too but I'm not holding my breath on that.
