digital casio or timex watch

those babies are no more than 35$

and you don't have to try to read an annoying analog clock face

It's not that much more than the gshock i'm looking at.

This is the gshock, copper toned(not solar tho) It's not a big deal, batteries are like 10 dollars

I started wearing wristwatches when I was a kid...maybe 3rd grade. Not everyone can wear one comfortably. It just makes sense (to me) to start with a cheapo for a while...then, if he wants, step up to a better watch.
I have a sub 100 dollar casio watch. Free watch tho, not really my first watch of my choice. It's a womens gshock. Recently recieved it, like wearing it. That is why i want to get one of my choice

so,

the green dial seiko you have there is tha SARB Alpinist, which is considered to be one of the best choices of mechanical watches of the last few years on r/watches. If you get that one, you have my blessing.
Despite the somewhat similar price, the GShock and the Alpinist are in two different categories - the Seiko is waaaaaaaaaay up there and the g-shock is down here with us peasants. I cannot think of one watch forum that didnt rave-review the Alpinist.

Did you know what it was just by looking at it, or did you inspect the pic link to find out what it was?

i know the Seiko Alpinist very well. Like i said, people on various forums RAVED about this watch; every time someone posts an image of it on r/watches, there is nothing but praise for it.
It looks good, it has very high specs, and it has a very reasonable price for what you get. It also has a very healthy aftermarket and great demand for second-hand pieces. And, it's a limited run, so when they run out the value will increase.
Again, if you get this watch, you have my blessing.

oh and google Seiko Alpinist Bracelet
You can buy them off eBay for a quarter of the price, and the Alpinist with metal bracelet looks reeeeally good. I won't lie, this has been on my to-buy list for a while.

On a serious note I do revere pubs to a certain extent. I live in a village and our locals pub is a place that runs loads of fundraisers for the local schools and churches. It has a bunch of fetes and festivals. It provides cheap meals, a warm fire and company to some of the old people in the village.
It's a friendly place where you can take the kids and they can play games with the other children while you can grab a quick pint and a chat.

Its cheaper to drink at home but less sociable.
You're lucky to have that going on. I don't know of anything like it around here. I guess we have cheap imitations of UK pubs around here at best.

For the most part, the USA has bars and tavern, not at all like true UK pubs.

i will be risking the ire of @WelshBloke here but for the most part, we got better pubs in Italy than we do here in the UK.
1. interior decor is for the vast majority sponsored by Guinness, so you get a nice all-wood interior, dartboards, benches, sofas, etc.
2. we get table service. yes. waitresses will come to your table, ask what you want, and serve you the pints to the table.
3. pubs close when the last people leave; it's not unusual for a pub to go until 3/4AM.
4. very rare to have football bullshit on, unless it's the local team playing.
5. generally they tend to have a more "mingly" atmosphere, as US bars do.

the bad:
nowhere near as cheap as a Weatherspoons. but, they do tend to have standardized prices, so while they *are* expensive, you don't get those super-expensive pubs where it's over 5 quid a pint.

seriously i got a pub near my house where it's 5.60 (seven bucks) for a guinness, when the same is 2.90 in the weatherspoons pub down the road.

wearing your watch on the wrist you shake hands with is a good power move

Unless you're one of those weird lefties, you should wear your watch on your left (non-dominant) wrist. If you ARE one of those abominations known as lefties...or southpaws, wear your watch on your left wrist because it's still the correct wrist.
