In the market for a 19" monitor.

I'm in the process of builing a new system, and I'm trying to decide which monitor to get....I've decided on a 19"

I'd like to get one of those "PerfectFlat" monitors...the CRT's, not the LCD. Also, I was looking up some ViewSonic monitors and there were a couple that looked nice, but some were Aperture Grill, and some were something else (can't recall).

Any suggestions? I'd like to stay under $400 if at all possible.

Thanks!

I had a sony (it was expensive back in the day) for 3 years. Upgraded to samsung 17 inch last year and like it a lot - 753df. Check 'em out.

I just bought a viewsonic pf790. It's great, the only problem i can think of, is the dot pitch is .25 mm, and i don't think any of their cheaper monitors go anywhere below that, and i would definately recommend at least .24....Just my 2 cents.

I got the Samsung 955df last week through a terrific deal at Dell. It's definitely flat, and a real pleasure watching DVD movies on it (no distorted images). My only complaint is that the left and right sides have a slight blue tint and it is not as sharp as the center of the screen (I'm pretty sure this is not defective because I've read several similar comments about the same model). Other than that it's been great so far, it's the first monitor that I haven't needed to adjust the pincushion settings to stretch the center.

Yeah, the Samsung 955nf is a good monitor, especially for like 160 bucks at dell last week!

you can find a samsung 900nf for 400 even on pricewatch....my friend got one last week. it's real nice

a lot of people are torn between it and the sony g400 (which is hard to get for less than 400 bucks). it's also a nice 19 incher

I took a chance and bought the g400 at ubid.com shipped for $323. It did have some wierd brown spot in the corner, and the geometry was a little off when I first bought it. But I did some geometry fixs (sp), and after the monitor gets a little warmer, it gets alot better. The screen kind of looks like it caves in though. Maybe it's because I'm used to seeing rounded monitors, instead of flat screens. Although I have heard of a problem like that. Anyways the picture is really good, and while i'm not using it right now, i'm just gonna go ahead and take it to the sony place to see if they can do anything about it. If not...I think it was still well worth the money. Your experience could be different however
