Don't wait till your hungry. Start cooking before you want to eat. Prepare for dinner at 7:30(or whenever) regardless of how you feel. The biggest reason I have for eating/ordering out, is when I'm suddenly hungry, & I don't want to take the time to cook up anything.

Go to the store and spend a crapload of money on good food. Steak, Chicken, Pork, fruit, veggies etc.. Now you will have no money to eat out and have good food at home.

I go out for lunch almost every day with a couple of buddies from work. Applebee's, mexican, chinese, italian...I spend about an average of $12 every time we go out unless it's fast food or chinese. That really adds up over the course of a month. I need to cut back but it's soo good, plus it's nice to get a break from the office. It would be a lot less expensive (not to mention healthier) if I would settle for a sandwich or a salad.

you have to learn to cook such that your food tastes pretty good.

Also, self control.

I do it so often just because it is the only thing my friends can agree on doing. Everything else they are too self-centered to compromise, but everyone needs to eat so it just becomes a social thing. Other than the social aspect I sometimes run out of food at my house ... so I then eat out more for a few days before I get to the store. I can't wait to not spend 50+ a weekend on damn food, I could use that so much better.

When I'm living at my parent's house, I've found myself eating out quite a bit. My parents don't cook at regular times and I don't necessarily have a regular schedule either so I usually eat at a different time as them. If I buy groceries for myself my parents eat it before I get a chance to, so I just get take out a lot.

Mine was, but when I realized ATOT was being mature about, I couldn't let myself ruin such a wonderful occasion.

Q: when you eat out, do you normally eat out alone or with others? One thing you might want to try doing is to have rotating "dinner parties" with your friends. This way you're not always the one cooking, and you still get to have quality time with your friends. Not only that, but you don't get stuck with leftovers for a week. Keeps costs down, the friends in, and the leftovers out.

Another option is get a few people together and everyone prepare one item, that way you don't have to spend time making everything, just cook one thing and be done with it.

I can't complain too much since I'm getting free housing, but it does make buying groceries and trying to eat cheap a waste of time.

It's also a good way to meet girls.

Not girls that will have sex with you, mind you. Girls that will take you shopping, talk to you about feelings, and, on occasion, introduce you to other guys (because they assume you're gay)...

As, what a sad life I've lived :(

Mine is, I think I'll be doing some fine dining later in the week if I'm to be rewarded.
