In the first Ghostbusters, does anyone die?

I'm watching Ghostbusters II and it made wonder if anyone died in the first one. If no one did, I suppose you could conclude that ghosts are relatively safe and are merely nuisances. I don't really remember anyone dying in any of the Ghostbuster movies. But, my memory is flawed, so maybe one of you can shed some light on the subject.

Did the ghost(s) really die? I'm quite sure they only get trapped in a portable device thingie then transported to a bigger inter-dimensional ghoul containment unit or am I talking about the animated series here, hehe. :)

Well then, I guess other than scaring the pants off you, ghosts are harmless.

edit: That happened in the animated series, but I think in one of the movies something happens to that containment unit and ghosts escape.

The cartoon actually fills most of the gap between the two movies quite well. If you watch part one and then all the episodes of the cartoon before the second one you will see a correlation. They also try to stay true to the existing ghost legends.
