In the end, Democrats only fooled 19% of the nation

"Sixty percent (60%) of voters nationwide believe the new law will increase the federal budget deficit, while just 19% say it will reduce the deficit."

I wonder what it will take to convince the last 19%? If the recent Health and Human Services Department report saying it will not reduce the deficit (as once promised by Obama) doesn't do it, maybe they need to hear it straight from Obama's mouth?

They still believe in 2032 it will reduce deficits. Because clearly govt projections work out so well decades into the future.

What the eff does it matter whether people perceive that the bill will raise or lower the deficit? Whether it will raise or lower it is empirical; it isn't about perception.

When the Department of Health and Human Services comes out and tells the people that it will not lower the deficit and 19% still believe it will. Dont you think thats odd? The myth that this bill lowers the deficit has been debunked over and over, with the final salvo coming from the DHHS itself last week, yet 19% of the nation still has its fingers in its ears screaming "LALALALA I CANT HEAR YOU"

His sentiment is also the majority of the nation right now. Most people dissapprove of Obama and his agenda.

And you're of the opinion that you know what you're talking about. Which only goes to prove yet again that personal opinion and objective reality have no relation to each other.

Get back to us when you've got more than opinion polls.

It's funny how you only listen to the CBO when they're saying you want to hear.

Too bad they're gonna vote for some authoritarian Republican that's "only 10% as bad." Like oh man, in the primaries we voted in the WORST POSSIBLE REPUBLICAN candidate, now let's see what happens in the general election. Oh shit, authoritarian v authoritarian, the slightly crazier one that is better at lying won voters over.

Vote in your primaries. Find out who the guy running is that really believes in our country and our constitution and therefore hates our government. Find that person, tell your friends and family, and get out and vote them in for the general election. The republicans will vote for this person because they have an R next to their name, the democrats will vote for the other guy for the D. R will probably win, especially because those that believe in liberty will show up if there is a reason to. There hasn't been in a long time.

So the polls show Obama with an approval rating below 50%, and you want me to get back to you when I have more than a poll.

WTF do you want? lol

Its shaping up for some big losses for the D's.

The important thing is that we'll have had or moment in the sun: Health Care reform, fixed the Bush tax cuts, financial industry reform, 2 new supreme court justices, a stimulus that saved the economy, hopefully gay rights and environmental legislation.

Good show. Good show. :) White knights ride off into the sunset.

If the Rs want to come in and start a few more wars, torture some Americans and try to keep consolidating power, I'll get my marching boots on again and hit Washington. Until then, I'm happy knowing that any new Republican's will be too terrified to actually role back any of the good programs the Democrats have put into place.

The ones who believed it would shrink def. are not as bad as the ones that knew it wouldn't but lied about it anyway.

How many of the 60% believed Saddam had WMDs or something to do with 9/11 ?

Ha, yup.

Btw, 60%+ of the public has been against unfunded Iraq war for 2+ years now. Of course that didn't stop Repubs or fringe right-wingers here from supporting it.

Can always raise taxes to reduce the deficit if that's the main concern.

Does not work very well. The moment the $$ starts to flow in; another pet project gets funded by Congress.

I would suspect that IF Congress and the WH would keep their grubby paws off any new income stream; people might be willing to fund that stream to reduce the deficit and then the overall debt.

But that is not a possibility.
