9100 is an 8500 with a bios upgrade. The 9100 outperforms the 9000 in most (if not nearly all) cases. That is the reason ATI renamed it.

BTW, nearly all cases the Gefore4 ti 4200 beats the 8500/9100.

Grab yourself a Ti4200, as it beats the R200 core handily, and even moreso now that they've equipped the 128MB versions with faster RAM. Head over to the Hot Deals forums and see if you can snag one of the 128MB PNY's for $79 out the door. They've been hitting the sub-$100 mark a lot lately, I don't expect that to change with the impending arrival of the .13micron parts from both ATi and nVidia (5600 Ultra, 9600pro).
