In states (all have Repub governors) that cut off $300 extended unemployment benefits, job vacancies are still not being filled

Makes sense. We will see if those who haven't found better jobs will trickle back into the workforce as benefits run out and mortgage/rent moratoriums expire. The other big expense that has been deferred is student loan payment. That was set to expire soon as well, but now has been extended to January 2022.

Edit: The delta surge has complicated things a lot, because it is now hazardous to go back to work. Where I live, we should be masking up indoors according to the CDC guidelines, but so far I have seen maybe only half the people in stores like Target going back to mask wearing.
I think for sure we're going back to the dark ages. 9700 people being hospitalized per day in the US With COVID right now. The horse is out of the barn and we'll see the economy take a hit next.

Sure enough, looks like the states that cut off benefits harmed their economies and got nothing for it!

They were told this at the time but even after decades and decades of being wrong over and over again they still prefer to live in their fantasy world.

Everyone should find something they love as much as Republicans love hurting poor people.

What’s amazing is they hurt themselves too, but they would rather everyone be hurt than poor people not be.

Just wait till they try to slash Medicare/Medicaid spending in the upcoming debt celling fight, again. They are so comically evil that nobody takes it seriously until they manage to accomplish something.

235k vs 750k jobs expected. Leisure an hospitality a big fucking goose egg.

Strange how it keeps being the virus that's the problem for the economy and not anything else like mitigations or the UI boost. Unvaccinated Americans are responsible for the country's economic woes now.

Republicans seem to love flagellation.
