Why don't they make the consoles so they can't blow up into someones face with glass. Or would it really be that hard to make it so they cannot blow upwards due to a power surge, or even put in a different glass that didn't explode into shards into someone's face? Seems most of the deaths are from this..

just a thought..

wait, in what episode(s) did someone die from exploding glass to the face? i thought it was just from the force/blast of the explosion. i'd like to see proof of glass-to-face death; otherwise, they already have thought of it.

Hmm..well the one I am watching it happened, she had cuts through the neck/face.

Also, when Picard was going through different times, the doctor on the medic ship died with glass looking cuts to the throat.

Why is it that anything that happens to the ship causes it to shake? I choose to ignore all the cheese and watch the show anyway.

Same reason as for the showers of sparks and whatnot from various consoles: To contribute to the viewer experience that something is actually happening.

evidence noted. perhaps the exploding glass protection mechanism failed

in the 24th century, it'll be easy to make smear-proof glass panels, but it'll remain difficult to make them indestructable! ;)

Has there ever been an episode where terrorists sabotaged the inertial dampeners of a vessel? That would be an easy, though messy way to take out a crew. Turn them off, then drop out of warp.

SHMMOOOOOoooosh....

I was going to say this might the be weirdest ST:TNG question ever, but that is impossible, isn't it?

best show ever.

There are a lot of things that should happen in the show but dont...to make a good show. Have to suspend belief and just go with the flow of things.

Like...if 2 of the 3 races have cloaks..and have had cloaks for a long ass time...why dont the federation have cloaks and why cant they figure out a way to see them. They can figure out how to go through time and open a portal in a matter of minutes in a brainstorming session using a bunch of funny talk...but they cant figure out cloaks...

my favorite argument in star trek stuff is the STvsSW argument. Star Wars would OMGWTFBBQ pwn them. Speaking of star wars...HBO has been showing them for the past month..ive watched 4 5 and 6 like 2 times each.

They can figure out cloaks, in fact there was a ship that had it. The Federation agreed not to persue cloaking technology as some sort of agreement with other governments. IIRC anyway.

There was an episode where a Federation ship was testing cloaking stuff and decloaked partway inside an asteroid.

They signed a treaty not to develop/use cloaking technology! Have you never seen the ep where Riker's old captain comes to the Enterprise and they have to use this cloak technology, but then destroy it?
