in-session remote programs?

I am looking for software recommendations (preferably that people have actually used, etc) for remote control, but that allows the operator to take control of a users session. This is essentially for help desk type stuff, showing people how to do stuff, etc. I prefer RDC for everything, but unfortunately there is no in-session accessibility.

Any suggestions?

Most (98%) of the client machines will be Windows XP. If only this stuff was as easy as linux + PuTTY. 🙂

If I understand your question, then any of these should do:

VNC
TeamViewer
Logmein

All of those will allow you to RC a users machine and allow the user to watch what you're doing. I was at a helpdesk job that used VNC and it seemed to work nice. There were roughly 1500 employees, and it was all internal stuff, no routing involved.

What will work best, IMO, it's the location of the users relative to you.

Thanks. That is about what we need. I'm supposed to make up a list, providing pros and cons of each program, and the details I'm getting are still sketchy. So I'll demo these programs and hopefully that will work for the higher ups. Thanks again.

Logmein is the one I'm familiar with and used for quite a while on multiple XP Machines.
