ok, here's the sitch...
my rig:
Pentium III 500
Abit bx6 rev 2.0
1 stick 128 PC100 Sdram
Geforce 2 gts 64mb AGP
IBM hard drive 7200 rpm
network card
soundblaster awe32
Win XP
Old, I know but it's mine 😛
I leave it on all the time...I come down, screen is locked up on screen saver.
I reboot. I get no POST at all. Monitor test screen comes on successfully.
I remove AGP card and replace with old PCI card, and system posts...
Win XP boots, but when I change resolution, and reboot, screen is black and
white with some color on icons. This lasts 1 day. I return to find screen black.
I reboot. Nothing, no POST at all. I remove PCI video card and test it in another
computer, and it works fine. I then put back PCI video card and remove all other
cards. Still no POST. I don't have an agp slot to test the other video card.
Lastly, I remove all cards, and reboot. The hard drive still does not load Win XP.
It does, however spin up the CD-rom, flash the floppy light and the cpu fan still
runs. Additionally, when the GEforce is in, the fan functions on that, the ok green
light is on, but still no POST.
Could it be the RAM, or is it more likely to be the mother board?
Is there a way to know without being able to put it in another box?
Help and thanks to all
