In search of perfect Gemoetry/Convergence!

I've noticed that nearly every flat screen monitor i've seen has either big convergence or geometry problems or minute ones. I've read that LCD's have perfect geometry, is this true? If so should i get one now or wait for that new FFD technology that I'm hearing about.
 
if you have a good 19" monitor now, I would say wait. I've used the lcd monitors and overall they aren't too great for games. New technology always takes time to mature so it might be a long wait. I just got a new "19 and it has no convergence problem but does have a slight 1mm dip at the top which isn't too bad, my major concern was the sharpness of the text and since it's uniformly sharp, i'm satisfied.
 
An lcd has perferct convergence becuase it doesn't have a beam that can draw in a curved line like crts do. And lcd also has perfect geometry. But there are exceptions.

If you use an analog connector and not dvi, you can get misconvergence. Since many monitors at stores are using a signal that has been split and amplified many times, there is significant (often extreme) distortion in the signal and this is why lcds at stores look really crappy.
if you use a monitor that displays at 1280x1024 resolution but has a 4:3 aspect ratio screen, then you'll have wrong geometry. Many 1280x1024 monitors use a 5:4 aspect ratio screen.

Not true. The input signal has nothing to due with beam convergence. Convergence and geometric distortion are influenced by the design of the deflection yoke, and how the monitor was aligned at the factory. There is no such thing as perfect geometry or convergence on a CRT monitor.

LCD monitors do not have beams that need to be converged, LCD monitors while not perfect are the closest thing to it from a geometric and convergence point of view.

Look for a manufacture that published geometric distortion and convergence specifications. Or call and e-mail their tech support line. This will also give you and idea of the service you will get after the purchase should you need them.
